Five ASCII bytes and a three-rail fence with the word lengths printed is the honest way to open an edition. The quiz pointing at Jackson’s railway line keeps the cipher on the paper rather than in a vacuum. Spaces stripped on the fence, top rail first — that is enough instruction without a lecture.
